The first trailer has arrived for Concussion, a new drama
about the developing issue of head trauma and the NFL, in which Smith
plays Nigerian-born forensic neuropathologist Dr. Bennet Omalu, who
discovered the first case of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) in a
professional football player.
Concussion is based on a GQ article by Jeanne Marie Laskas called ‘Game Brain,’ which tells the story of Dr. Omalu as a whistle-blower who tried to make the NFL do a better job of protecting the health of its players.
Starring alongside Smith in Concussion are Alec Baldwin, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Albert Brooks. The film opens on Christmas Day, and you can see the first trailer for Concussion below.
